Heidi H. Waintrub (b. 1981, Israel) is a multidisciplinary painter, writer, and visual storyteller. Working across painting, collage, and digital media, she builds images in which Jewish memory, Israeli experience, and the classical European tradition meet — a foundation in Renaissance method carried in a distinctly contemporary voice.

Waintrub relocated to Florence at the age of twenty-five, immersing herself in the city’s artistic heritage while earning a B.A. in History and Archaeology from the University of Florence. During this formative period she studied Italian Renaissance painting in specialized workshops and refined her practice in an artist’s Bottega. Her early career included roles as Art Director in New York and Miami, where she collaborated with galleries and developed a curatorial sensitivity that continues to inform her work.

Her Italian training remains visible in everything she makes and it is precisely where it meets the Jewish world and her Israeli heritage that her visual language takes shape. Judaism is not a subject she approaches from the outside but the ground she works from: questions of continuity, transmission, and loss run through the work.

Waintrub works in acrylic, oil, pastel, and collage alongside digital production, and is drawn to unexpected combinations of technique — material experimentation is inseparable from the search itself. Part of her practice involves the transformation of objects that have outlived their use, which she remakes into works of art: an object that has lost its function is given a new life, and the time accumulated in it becomes part of the piece. This attention is a direct inheritance from her training in archaeology. There, as in the studio, the remnant is the starting point, and the question is what it is still able to tell. Drawing on expressionism and surrealism, and known for her intuitive use of color and form, she engages both personal and collective memory. Her works have entered private collections internationally.

Waintrub is also a writer. She wrote and illustrated a children’s book, combining her narrative voice with her visual style, and is currently engaged in several ongoing writing projects. Her storytelling, whether on canvas or on the page, reflects a commitment to emotional resonance and layered meaning. Beyond her studio practice, she has cultivated a parallel career as a graphic artist, producing digital compositions for luxury boutiques in Italy.

This multidisciplinary approach reflects her belief in art as a conduit for self-exploration and shared experience — a universal language bridging past and present, tradition and innovation.
